What options are available for hearing impairments?

Closed Captions

  • Closed Caption devices are available so you can read what you can’t hear. Captions are delivered via a personal device, with a high contrast display and privacy screen, so only you can see the captions. This means that you can sit in any seat in the cinema. Please see staff at the cinema to collect the equipment and please note the equipment is subject to availability and you may be asked to leave a form of ID to ensure the safe return of the equipment.

Infrared

  • This system consists of infrared transmitters mounted in the cinema that carry the sound to a receiver that you wear. Each of our cinemas has slightly different infrared technology so please contact your local cinema for more information. At some cinemas, if you wear hearing aids we provide you with a neck loop to pick up the sound, and for those who do not use hearing aids, headsets can be supplied. At other cinemas only the headset is available. The best place to sit in the cinema is the middle section of seats up the back, but please see staff at the cinema for more details about this.

Hearing Aid Loop

  • This system consists of a wire loop that is installed in the cinema and is connected to the sound system, creating a magnetic field within the looped area that transmits sound to the hearing aid you wear. You’ll need turn your hearing aid to the T switch to pick this up. The best place to sit in the cinema is the middle section of seats up the back, but please see staff at the cinema for more details about this.
